A lorry driver has been charged following a serious collision in Folkestone, as officers continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Kent Police was called at 8.45pm on Tuesday 3 March 2026 to the coastbound carriageway of the A20, near to the entrance to the Roundhill Tunnel.
It is reported that a grey Peugeot 308 was stationary before a collision occurred with a white MAN articulated lorry. Both vehicles were travelling in the same direction. Officers and paramedics attended. The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was taken to a local hospital for treatment to multiple injuries. He has since been discharged to continue his recovery.
The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital as a precaution before being arrested. The road reopened around 1.45am on Wednesday 4 March.
The following day, Tomasz Antoniewicz, 52, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court to face a charge of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Mr Antoniewicz, of Braemar Way in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, was bailed with conditions to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday 7 April.
Officers investigating the incident are urging any witnesses, including those who saw either vehicle prior to the collision, and anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward. Anyone who has not yet spoken to police should call 01843 222289 quoting 46/36757/26.
