Maidstone patrols use tracker to recover stolen bike

Maidstone officers have swiftly followed a tracker to recover a stolen cycle and detain a suspect.

On Monday 27 February 2023, Kent Police received a report that a bike had been stolen from Lockmeadow, after it had been left secure with a chain and lock.

Officers were informed it was fitted with a tracking device and the bike was thought to be in Penenden Heath.

Cycle recovered

Patrols immediately deployed to the area and the bike was recovered from a private garden.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody.

He was later bailed to return to the police station on 18 May, pending further investigation into the theft.
