A suspected thief has been arrested in connection to an alleged theft of more than 200 gas cannisters worth around £45,000.
Kent Police was called just before 9am on Monday 11 August 2025 to a report of theft in Chartway Street, East Sutton near Maidstone.
It is alleged a man had routinely stolen gas containers over the course of four months.
Officers attended the scene where they stopped and searched a suspect driving a lorry in the area.
Later searches at a nearby address led to the seizure of numerous cannisters.
A 41 year old man from Romney Marsh was arrested in connection to the thefts.
He has since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances.
