Man charged after firearms recovered in Gillingham

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have charged a man with multiple firearms offences following a search of a house in Gillingham.

Officers carried out a warrant at a property in the Gillingham Park area on Thursday 31 August 2023 and seized numerous weapons including revolvers, air pistols, an air rifle and associated ammunition.

Paul Bushell, 80, was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with 10 counts relating to the possession of prohibited firearms and one count of possession of ammunition.

He was bailed by Medway magistrates on Friday 1 September and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday 29 September.
