A suspected burglar has been charged with a series of break-ins on the Medway City Estate.
Officers have been investigating allegations several small businesses located within Box City, including a barber shop, hair salon, and sandwich bar were targeted in the space of just a few hours.
The burglaries are reported to have happened overnight, between 22 and 23 August 2023, when it is alleged cash was stolen as well as items including a laptop and mobile phone.
On Saturday 2 September, an investigation by the Medway Victim Based Crime Team led to the arrest of Tony Jackson, 62.
Mr Jackson, of Burnt Oak Terrace, Gillingham was charged with eight counts of burglary. These include a separate break-in on 28 August, at a warehouse on the Gillingham Business Park.
The suspect appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 4 September and pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
He was remanded in custody until a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court, on 2 October.
