A knife-wielding man has been jailed after seriously injuring a man in Gillingham.
Jaime Goodege, 23, of Fourth Avenue, was sentenced to 8 years' imprisonment after being found guilty of wounding with intent.
On 25 January 2025, at around 2.30pm, Goodege was involved in an argument at his home address with an 18-year-old victim. The argument escalated and Goodege entered the kitchen of the property and grabbed a knife.
He then lunged at the victim and stabbed him multiple times, causing three puncture wounds to his lung and a laceration to the heart.
Following the attack, Goodege fled the scene.
Officers located Goodege 30 minutes later, approximately 1 mile from where the attack took place, and he was taken into custody.
On Friday 9 October Goodege was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court, having been found guilty by a jury of wounding with intent.
He is also subject to an indefinite restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the victim.
Investigating officer Detective Constable George Holness said:
'Goodege responded to a verbal argument in such a frenzied and erratic way, the victim was incredibly lucky to survive such life-threatening injuries.
'Officers responded quickly on the day, providing life-saving first aid at the scene and locating Goodege to ensure he was no longer a danger to the wider public.
'The sentence imposed reflects the seriousness of his offending and demonstrates Kent Police's commitment to targeting those involved in high-harm offending.'
