A continued crackdown on violence against women and girls has led to action being taken against three men for breaches of restraining orders.
Between 20 September and 1 October 2025 officers secured charges against three Maidstone men, two of which resulted in swift convictions and custodial sentences.
On 30 September, a man unlawfully entered his ex-partner’s home, causing damage to a window lock in the process, and became aggressive when confronted.
The offender tried to snatch the victim’s phone during her call to Kent Police and caused distress to her children.
Officers attended the incident and arrested the man, who was swiftly charged and remanded.
The 37 year old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 2 October where he was sentenced to 34 weeks’ imprisonment for breaching a restraining order, common assault, and criminal damage.
Between 13 September and 1 October, a man breached court conditions when he repeatedly attended his ex-partner’s home and sent threatening messages from outside her front door.
Just 10 days earlier, he had been issued a restraining order and suspended sentence for battery against the same victim.
The 29 year old was arrested, charged, and subsequently sentenced to 20 weeks’ imprisonment at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 2 October for breaching a restraining order and for further offending during the operational period of a suspended sentence.
On 20 September, a further man was arrested, charged, and remanded for breaching a restraining order after he allegedly made aggressive calls to his ex-partner and forced his way into her home.
The 34 year old was later released on bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 1 October and is due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court later this year.
Detective Sergeant Jo Hazelwood said:
‘Reducing and preventing violent offences against women and girls remains a force priority, which we continue to tackle robustly. ‘Our officers continue to crack down on perpetrators of such crimes, and work tirelessly to ensure anyone breaching court orders and conditions of suspended sentences are brought swiftly to justice. ‘We want all victims of domestic violence to know that they are not at fault for their abusers’ actions, and can have the confidence to report offences, assured that we strive to provide the best service possible.’
