Murder investigation launched following fatal Whitstable collision

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Whitstable.  

The incident happened on Chestfield Road in front of the Chestfield Barn pub, shortly before 8.15pm on Friday 24 July 2026. Harley Seal, 18, was riding a motorcycle, and died at the scene following a collision with a white Mercedes A180. 

At 9.50pm an 18 year old man attended Canterbury police station voluntarily and was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail whilst the investigation continues.

The following day, a 19 year old man attended Canterbury police station and was also arrested in connection with the incident. Connor Todd, of Portlight Place, Seasalter, has since been charged with murder and will appear before Margate Magistrates' Court on Monday 27 July 2026.

Enquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage of either vehicle before or after the collision to come forward.
