Charges have been brought against a man in connection with a series of reported thefts in Dover.
It is alleged that between 2 May and 20 June 2026, James Roberts stole goods valued at more than £1,500 from multiple shops in the town. On one occasion it is alleged that he stole £256 worth of meat products from an Aldi. It is also alleged that he assaulted a member of staff inside a Co-op on 20 June.
Roberts was arrested on 27 June and has since been charged with assault alongside 16 counts of theft.
The 38 year old, of Winnipeg Close, Dover, was remanded in custody and appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 29 June. He has been granted bail and is due to appear at the same court on 11 August.
