An off-road motorcycle and an e scooter have been seized following reports of nuisance bikes on the Isle of Sheppey.
Police were called to Barton’s Point, Sheerness on Sunday 29 June 2025 after being alerted by local residents to bikes being ridden in an antisocial manner.
At around 2.45pm, patrols attended an area near to the coastal park where it is reported a collision occurred involving a dirt bike and a stationary vehicle. There were no reported injuries.
The rider of the motorcycle was issued a traffic offence report (TOR) for driving without a licence and without insurance. The bike was also seized.
Later that afternoon, an e scooter was seized by officers near to the High Street. It was reported that three teenagers were attempting to ride the scooter on a public road.
Inspector Julia Bassindale from Swale’s Community Safety Unit said: 'We are very much aware of the misery that antisocial behaviour can cause communities and nuisance bikes in particular are not just disruptive to the enjoyment of daily life, they are also dangerous. 'Electric scooters and off-road motorbikes are subject to the same laws as motor vehicles. Those who ride them need to remember that we will enforce powers to seize these items should they be ridden other than in accordance with the law.'
