Officers from the Maidstone Neighbourhood Task Force are targeting those involved in the anti-social use of vehicles.
Enforcement in the Mangravet, Shepway and Parkwood areas will continue over the next few weeks in support of Kent Police’s Safer Summer campaign.
It follows complaints from residents about a minority of people who persist in using off-road motorbikes and quad bikes in public areas and on footpaths.
On Wednesday 28 June 2023, a 17-year-old boy was stopped in Northumberland Road riding a quad bike. He was reported for driving without a licence or insurance and the vehicle was seized.
PC Ashley Bates said: ‘Owners of vehicles not designed for public roads should take care to use them lawfully and on private land. Those who fail to heed this warning could have their vehicle seized, appear before court and face prosecution. ‘I would urge anyone affected by this illegal activity to make their concerns known to us so we can deploy our resources effectively.’
