Kent Police officers came to the rescue when they spotted a woman alone on the roadside after her car suffered a punctured tyre.
PC Gordon Gilbert and PC Jim Baker from the Proactive Targeting Team were returning from a search warrant when they noticed the broken-down vehicle on Lower Road, Yalding, at around 8.45am on Wednesday 22 June 2022.
The driver had been taking her two young children to school at the time and also had her five-day-old baby on board.
PCs Gilbert and Baker stopped to help and were able to change the woman’s tyre using a jack supplied by another member of the public, allowing her and her family to continue on their way.
PC Gilbert said:
‘The driver we helped was understandably anxious about her car breaking down, especially with a newborn baby on board and two children who were worried about being late for school.
‘Our priority as Kent Police officers is always public safety and we were only too willing to replace her tyre so she would no longer be left vulnerable on the side of the road. She was very thankful and appreciative but it was our pleasure to assist her.’
