Officers charge man following Thanet assault

Officers investigating a serious assault in Thanet have charged a man.
It was reported that a woman sustained head injuries following the assault on New Year’s Day at The Hussar pub in Canterbury Road, Garlinge.
Stephen Gowton, 36, of no fixed address, was arrested on Saturday 14 January 2023 and charged the following day with causing grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.
He appeared in Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 January where he was remanded in custody. The case will next be heard at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 13 February.
