Officers charge man with attempted robbery in Swanley

An investigation into an attempted robbery in Swanley has resulted in a 46 year old man being charged with offences.

Following an appeal, police arrested Darren Fraser, of West Park Road, Maidstone, on the evening of Tuesday 13 October 2026.

He has since been charged with attempted robbery after a man threatened an 86 year old pensioner while he was sat inside his car in Asda car park, London Road, Swanley.

The incident happened between 12.20pm and 12.30pm on Saturday 10 October 2026.

During the attempted robbery the suspect is alleged to have grabbed the victim’s arm and put a 4 inch knife to his stomach while demanding his bank card and pin number. He also demanded £500 from him.

However, the man was able to push the suspect away and get out of his car before the offender fled from the scene.

Further charges of shoplifting and fraud have also been authorised against Mr Fraser.

He is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 15 October.
