Two Kent Police Community Support Officers in Ramsgate are supporting their community’s efforts to create a safe and thriving green area in the town.
On the morning of Monday 7 February 2022, PCSOs Brandon Greenleaf and Tom Rougvie joined other volunteers to plant trees in Ellington Park. The two officers helped to dig holes for the new saplings in the wildlife area of the park.
The tree planting was co-ordinated by the Friends of Ellington Park, a group who help to maintain and improve the park.
PCSO Greenleaf said: ‘The park is valued by residents and it is important that it is maintained to keep it accessible for all. It was a pleasure to assist with the tree planting, not only will it provide habitats to encourage wildlife but by taking a pride in public spaces, it can deter anti-social behaviour and make an area safer for all.’
PCSO Rougvie added: ‘It is great to see so many volunteers out helping the community. Friends of Ellington park do a fantastic job and any way we can help, we will try. PCSOs originally helped to establish Friends of Ellington Park years ago and it is lovely to see a community asset bloom.’
