Officers investigating reports of thefts from cars in Folkestone have arrested a man.
Police were in the Hill Road area of the town, following reports that items had been stolen from vehicles in recent days.
An investigation is being carried out in relation to eight reported thefts in Brabner Close, Montgomery Way, Radnor Park Crescent and Watkin Road, between 9 and 14 January. They are also looking to a report that a theft on 25 October 2024 might be linked.
While on patrol shortly after midnight on Thursday 16 January 2025, officers became suspicious of a man in the area, which led to an arrest and a search of a property.
Police seized items believed to have been stolen, including bank cards, clothing, electronic goods and power tools.
A 38-year-old man from Canterbury was arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody. He has now been bailed while enquiries continue.
Work is ongoing to identify the owners of the property and officers are appealing for anyone who believes items might have been stolen from their vehicle in Folkestone during January to report it to Kent Police if they have not already done so.
