Online stalker from West Kingsdown jailed

A West Kingsdown stalker who sent persistent indecent images and made offensive suggestions online to two women has been jailed.

In 2013, Andrew Bloomfield targeted a victim he knew indirectly and sent images of naked men, used sexually derogatory language and made lewd suggestions to her.

When his target objected to the offensive content he continued to send her similar material on social media using fake identities over several years.

Second victim

From 2016, Bloomfield targeted a second victim on social media platforms with images of men’s genitals and offensive messages using around 80 false identities.

The two women were acquaintances and discovered they had both been suffering the same ordeal.

The police were contacted and an investigation commenced that led to the arrest of Bloomfield at his home address on 31 August 2022. His digital devices were seized and officers found evidence of his indecent behaviour towards the victims and also other women.

Bloomfield, of Fawkham Road, West Kingsdown, was charged and pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to two counts of stalking.

Jailed

On Friday 8 November 2024, the 39-year-old was sentenced to four years and two months’ imprisonment.

He will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years that prohibits him from having a Facebook or Instagram account in a name other than his own. He also has to comply with an indefinite restraining order.

Investigating officer, PC Callum Fullerton, said:

‘This appalling man has caused misery for his two victims over several years. His disgusting messages and images left the women in considerable distress and he should be thoroughly ashamed of his vile conduct.
‘Bloomfield thought the internet gave him sufficient anonymity to target women in their own homes for his own perverse gratification, but his confidence was misplaced. The victims courageously alerted the police and he has now been brought to justice.’
