A constable has responded swiftly to arrest a suspect following reports of two attempted robberies in Gillingham.
On Tuesday 18 February 2025, Kent Police was contacted by a woman who said she had been threatened by a man with a knife who had asked for cash in Jeffrey Street. The victim said she did not have any money on her and the man left the scene on foot.
Later the same day, a second woman alleged a man had demanded she hand over her bag whilst she was walking in Balmoral Road. He is reported to have had a knife but left empty handed after the victim called out to another member of the public.
A responding patrol completed a search of the area and arrested a suspect in the High Street. The officer also recovered a knife.
Adam Photay, of Barr Road, Gravesend, was later charged with two attempted robberies and possession of a bladed article.
The 24 year old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 20 February.
