Officers have charged a man with 13 offences after a series of incidents involving violence, threats, and antisocial behaviour in Ramsgate on Tuesday 24 March 2025.
At around 4pm, a man attended a shop in Addington Street where he is alleged to have attempted to steal alcohol. When challenged the man is alleged to have assaulted two members of staff and used a racial slur. Approximately an hour later, the man attended an office on Queen Street, and is reported to have caused criminal damage and made threats to staff.
Officers attended and arrested a man on Broad Street. Upon arrival at Margate Police Station, he is reported to have been verbally abusive towards officers.
Jesse Lewis, 38, of James Street, Gillingham, has since been charged with 13 offences, including, threats to kill, affray, robbery and racially aggravated criminal damage.
On Thursday 26 March 2026 he attended Margate Magistrates' Court and has been remanded until his next hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on 27 April 2026.
