An e-scooter was seized and car drivers reported during a road safety operation in Folkestone.
Police carried out high-visibility checks in Tram Road, Tontine Street, The Leas and Cheriton Road on Monday 30 December 2024.
More than 30 vehicles were stopped and motorists were spoken to about the manner of their driving or condition of their vehicles.
Eight drivers were given Traffic Offence Reports for issues including using a mobile phone at the wheel, speeding, driving without a seatbelt and failure to have correct insurance.
Other drivers were told to get poor-quality tyres or faulty lights replaced. An e-scooter was also seized due to it being uninsured.
PC Kevin Marsh said:
'At all times of the year, it is important that motorists take responsibility for keeping other road users and pedestrians safe, by driving in accordance with the law and keeping their vehicles in good condition. 'The law on e-scooters is also clear: It is illegal to ride them on public roads or pavements, and we will seize them when we see them being ridden irresponsibly. 'We will continue to carry out operations of this kind and I urge drivers to make sure their vehicle is safe and they are driving safely.'
