Neighbourhood officers have detained two suspected shoplifters and charged them with multiple offences in Medway and Faversham.
Between 25 July and 11 August 2024, five businesses in Faversham reported the theft of products valued at around £1,400.
Boots the Chemist, the Co-op, Poundland, Sainsbury's and Morrisons were all allegedly targeted with cosmetics, laundry products, food and alcohol being taken.
A suspect was arrested on Monday 12 August and taken into custody. Gareth Owen, of High Street, Faversham, was later charged with 20 thefts.
In a separate investigation, several thefts of food items were reported at a petrol station in Maidstone Road, Chatham, between Friday 2 August and Sunday 11 August.
The total value of the items taken was almost £500 and on Tuesday 13 August a man was arrested. Lee Swift, of High Street, Chatham was later charged with eight thefts.
Mr Owen, 42, and Mr Swift, 46, were both remanded in custody by investigators to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14 August.
