Investigators in north Kent and Medway have continued to support local retailers by tracking down and charging suspected shoplifters.
On Saturday 15 March 2025, staff at Holland and Barrett in Dartford reported medical tablets valued at almost £526 had been stolen.
Officers completed enquiries into the incident including the examination of CCTV footage. Patrols then attended an address in London on 22 April and arrested two suspects.
Joshua Chambers and Nicole Kuhlman, of Lamport Close, Woolwich were later charged with theft. Mr Chambers, 41, was also charged with a further theft of food items, worth £46, at the Co-op in Dartford on an earlier date.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 23 April.
Ms Kuhlman, also 41, was conditionally bailed to a hearing at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court in May.
In a separate incident, employees at a charity based in Commercial Road, Strood reported pillows and picnic bags had been stolen earlier this year. An investigation was completed that led to the arrest of a suspect on Wednesday 22 April.
Roy Iliffe, of Hoopers Road, Rochester was later charged with theft. The 45 year old was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 23 April.
A second suspect, Daniel Cook, was previously arrested on Sunday 13 April and charged with the same offence. Mr Cook, 32, of Frindsbury Road, Strood is currently conditionally bailed to appear at the same court to be sentenced on Thursday 26 June.
Chief Inspector Will Lay said:
‘I want to reassure business owners that neighbourhood officers and other patrols will seek to detain offenders at the scene when incidents are reported. Where this has not been possible, our investigation teams will endeavour to identify those responsible and will then track them down and take them into custody.’
