A football spectator has been charged after allegedly making racist gestures towards a player at a Gillingham FC match.
Benjamin Burchell, 28, was arrested at Priestfield Stadium on Saturday 28 October 2023 during the club’s League Two match with Newport County.
He was released on bail pending further enquiries by the Medway Victim Based Crime Team and has now been charged with a racially-aggravated public order offence.
Mr Burchell, of College Avenue, Gillingham, is due to attend Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 28 February.
