Four vehicles have been recovered by officers in Swale less than 24 hours after they were reported stolen.
All the cars were Ford Fiestas and were targeted between Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 October 2024.
Three were taken overnight from Burley Road, Hythe Road, and London Road in Sittingbourne. Two more were reported stolen from Clover Close and Sanspareil Avenue, Minster-on-Sea.
Local officers completed enquiries into the incidents and a search led them to recover four of the Fiestas parked at separate locations in the area.
An investigation is underway to recover the missing car and identify those responsible.
Swale Chief Inspector Vanessa Foster said: ‘This was great work by officers who used their local knowledge to successfully locate four out of the five stolen vehicles. ‘They all had keyless entry systems and we believe that the same offender used a device in order to get into the vehicles, so I want to encourage drivers who own Ford Fiestas within the town to take extra measures to ensure your vehicle remains safe and where it should be. ‘Often keys are left inside properties but within easy reach of the vehicle, so if a suspect has a device which can unlock the car using the signal from the keys they can easily gain access. ‘A good way of preventing this is to purchase a car key signal blocker, such as a Faraday pouch or box.’
