A suspect was arrested and a reported stolen vehicle was recovered by officers less than 2 hours after reportedly being taken from near Tonbridge.
Kent Police was called at 1.12am on Thursday 29 October 2026 to a report of a 4x4 being stolen from a driveway in Old Road, East Peckham.
A second vehicle, a silver MG HS, was also sighted and linked to the reported theft.
Patrols in the area swiftly located the MG and a pursuit began after the vehicle failed to stop.
The car was seen driving the wrong way down the A228 and speeding. A stinger was deployed, which the vehicle hit, and it was brought to a stop near Seven Mile Lane.
A 20 year old man from Bromley was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, and failing to stop.
He has since been bailed, pending further enquiries.
The MG was seized as it is believed to be linked to a previous theft in London.
Meanwhile, other patrols tracked down the 4x4 near Hadlow and it was recovered before 3am.
An investigation is underway and anyone with information that may assist the investigation is urged to call the west Kent appeals line on 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/178841/26.
Local residents with private CCTV or drivers with dashcam, who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, are also asked to check for footage.
