Suspect charged after people threatened in Maidstone

A suspect has been charged following reports of a man with a weapon in Maidstone.
On the afternoon of Saturday 11 July, armed officers immediately attended Mote Park following calls that a group of people had been threatened with a weapon.
As patrols arrived at the location, members of the public informed them that the suspect had left the scene, and an imitation firearm was recovered.
Arrest
The officers carried out enquiries and shortly afterwards a man was arrested.
Clive Farquharson, 59, of no fixed address, was charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court on Monday 13 July where he was remanded in custody.
His next court appearance is at Maidstone Crown Court on 10 August 2026.
