A 63-year-old man has been charged with carrying out two sexual assaults in Ashford.
On Saturday 25 November 2023, it was reported that a woman was approached in a restaurant in the town centre and touched inappropriately over her clothing.
The victim was allegedly assaulted a second time on Thursday 30 November in the same Ashford location.
A swift investigation led to the arrest later that day of Gheorghe Tirbu, of Canterbury Road, Ashford. He was subsequently charged with two counts of sexual assault by touching.
Tirbu appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 1 December and was granted conditional bail to re-appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on 16 August 2024.
