Suspect charged in Dover murder investigation

Detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of a woman in Dover.

Kent Police was called at 3.27pm on Sunday 29 March 2026, following reports of an assault in a private address in Khartoum Square, Whitfield.

Officers attended alongside other emergency services, where the victim, a 64-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

A 32-year-old man from Dover, who was known to the victim, was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and has been remanded in custody.

There will be an increased police presence in Whitfield as officers continue to conduct their enquiries.

On Tuesday 31 March 2026, Joshua Izu, of Khartoum Square, Whitfield, was charged with murder and will attend Margate Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 31 March.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact them. Residents with private CCTV and motorists with dashcam are also asked to check for relevant footage.
