Kent Police was called to Snargate Street in the town at 11.08am on Thursday 15 August 2024, to a report that a suspicious package had been placed there.
A cordon was put in place while the street was searched as a precaution. The call was deemed to be a hoax and an arrest was made the same day.
A charge of making a false bomb threat was authorised against Dean Sarjeant, 52, of London Road, Dover. He has been remanded and is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 16 August.
