A suspect is to appear in court accused of racially aggravated offences in Ashford.
Kent Police was called at 7pm on Sunday 4 August 2024 to a report of a disturbance at a commercial premises on Canterbury Road in the town, during which a man had been assaulted. No injuries were reported. A window pane was also damaged during the disturbance.
As part of an investigation into the incident by detectives, Michael Tart, 38, of Nine Acres, Ashford, was charged with racially aggravated assault, racially aggravated criminal damage, and a public order offence on Friday 16 August.
He appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court the following day where he was released on bail. The case will next be heard on Tuesday 20 August at Canterbury Crown Court.
