Suspected burglar arrested during Strood break in

A suspected burglar has been arrested by officers after they were alerted to a  break-in at a house in Strood.

Kent Police was alerted to the burglary in progress at 4.32pm on Sunday 8 January 2023 in Brompton Lane, where a man was reported to have been seen entering a house through the back door.

Officers from Medway’s community policing team promptly responded and upon arrival a man matching the description of the suspect was seen near the property.

He was arrested and on being searched was found to have stolen items on him, which were confirmed as belonging inside the house.

The 22-year-old man from Gillingham was taken to Medway Police Station and has since been bailed until 4 March while enquiries continue.
