A suspected cable thief has been arrested within 10 minutes of an attempted burglary in Maidstone.
Damage was caused to an Indian restaurant in Brewer Street after several electrical wires on walls outside the premises were cut, resulting in a loss of power.
Police were called to the restaurant at 3am on Thursday 6 March 2025.
Patrols swiftly attended and a suspect was detained in an adjacent alleyway. A bag was seized containing wiring, as well as tools including bolt croppers.
The man, aged 40 and from Maidstone, was arrested on suspicion of offences including going equipped to steal, theft and criminal damage.
He is currently bailed with conditions, pending the outcome of further enquiries.
