Drugs including suspected heroin, a knife and a large quantity of cash have been seized following a foot chase near the River Medway.
At around 4pm on Monday 7 July 2025, officers became aware of a man behaving suspiciously in Chatham High Street, who left the scene on foot.
The man was followed and during a brief pursuit, a mobile phone and a plastic bag were reportedly discarded.
An arrest was made shortly afterwards on Sun Wharf. A search was carried out and drugs thought to be heroin and ketamine, along with cannabis, were seized.
A bag and a mobile phone were recovered from the river with the assistance of Kent Fire and Rescue Service. Further searches led to a knife being seized, along with £2300 in cash and a set of scales.
A 23 year old man from Rochester was taken into custody and has been bailed while enquiries continue.
