Charges have been brought against a Thanet man after officers in Ramsgate were alerted to a suspected drugs deal on Monday 11 November 2024.
Proactive patrols were taking place in the Ramsgate Harbour area when officers became aware of two men in a car who aroused their suspicion.
A man got out of the car and was stopped and spoken to by officers. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug, with a search leading to the recovery of cash, mobile phones and a white powder believed to be cocaine. The man has since been bailed while enquiries continue.
The car was stopped by officers nearby a short while afterwards and the driver detained. Following initial enquiries, the driver was arrested. Related searches were carried out and a large quantity of a substance thought to be cocaine; cash and various banking deposit receipts were seized.
On Tuesday 12 November, Jamie Child of Salisbury Avenue, Broadstairs was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, and possession of criminal property.
Mr Child, 43, appeared before Margate Magistrates’ Court later that day and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 16 December.
