Eagle-eyed officers who spotted what they believed was a drug deal taking place in Chatham have secured charges against a suspect.
Officers were in Bryant Street on the afternoon of Wednesday 10 August 2022 when they witnessed what they believed was a drug deal between two men.
One of the men evaded officers after they attempted to stop the pair on Luton Road.
The second man was searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and officers found what was believed to be around 100 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin concealed in his waistband. They also seized a mobile phone and a quantity of cash.
Mohamed Hussain, 21, of no fixed address, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug offences and has now been charged with possession with intent to supply heroin, possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and acquiring criminal property.
He appeared before West Kent Magistrates’ Court on 11 August 2022 where he was remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be determined.
