Detectives have swiftly arrested and charged a suspected burglar after jewellery was reported stolen from an address in High Halstow.
On Thursday 8 February 2024, a resident in the village returned home to find a break-in at their property and items missing.
The police were alerted and an investigation was commenced by detectives from the Kent Crime Squad.
On Friday 9 February a man was arrested. Officers also recovered jewellery from three separate locations.
Gavin Lawless, of Fourth Avenue, Gillingham was later charged with burglary.
The 45-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on the following day. He was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 4 March.
