A suspected Medway shoplifter has been charged as efforts to tackle retail crime continue.
It follows multiple reports of thefts from two supermarkets between Monday 17 February and Monday 3 March 2025.
It is alleged that meat and cheese were stolen from the Co-op in Canterbury Road, Gillingham and from M&S Food Store in Strood. Items worth more than £300 were reportedly taken.
Officers carried out enquiries and on Tuesday 4 March, a man was arrested in connection with the incidents.
The following day, Ross Collins, 42, was charged with four counts of theft.
Mr Collins, of Balmoral Road in Gillingham, was remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court on Thursday 6 March.
