Ten charges have been brought against a suspected thief from Canterbury after a city centre supermarket was targeted.
Between 21 July and 9 October 2026, goods were reported to have been stolen on multiple occasions from Sainsbury’s in St Dunstan’s Street. The items included energy drinks, snacks and healthcare products.
Officers completed their enquiries, including the examination of CCTV footage, and a suspect was arrested early on 10 October in Herne Bay.
Later that day, Ashley Berry, of Whitehall Bridge Road, Canterbury, was charged with 9 counts of theft. He was also charged in relation to a reported assault on a security guard on 22 July.
Mr Berry, 39, appeared before Margate magistrates on 12 October and was bailed to the same court on 4 January 2027.
