A suspect is to appear in court charged in connection with hare coursing in Birchington.
Kent Police received a report that a person with a dog was taking part in suspected poaching at Plum Pudding Island. The call was made at around 11am on Saturday 18 January 2025. Officers attended the area and found a person in a vehicle parked down a single track lane. Enquiries carried out by officers resulted in them recovering three deceased hares and a powered telescope.
Gavin Chapman, 47, of Well Lane, Canterbury, was arrested and charged with being equipped for searching or pursuing hares with dogs, and hunting a wild mammal with dogs.
He was released on bail to attend Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 13 February.
