School pupils who will soon be taking to the roads on their bikes have been given advice by Thanet Police Community Support Officers.
Since March, Crime Prevention Officers PCSO Adrian Butterworth and PCSO Michelle Stovold have been visiting schools and speaking with the year six pupils who have successfully passed the Bikeability course.
The course teaches children practical skills and gives them the understanding and expertise they need to ride their bikes on the road.
PCSO Stovold said: ‘We’ve been visiting schools across Thanet advising how to prevent bike theft and issuing bike locks and lights to ensure the pupils keep their bikes safe and secure.
‘It’s vitally important that children are reminded of how to stay safe out on the roads and this is a great opportunity to engage with the young people.’
