The family of a pedestrian who died following a collision with a car in Folkestone have issued a tribute to him.
The incident took place on Canterbury Road at around 6.40pm on Sunday 1 November 2026. The pedestrian, who can now be identified as 59-year-old Andrew Gardiner, was treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service but was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
The family of Mr Gardiner have asked Kent Police to issue the following tribute on their behalf:
‘Andy was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, partner, friend. Tragically taken too soon from all who knew and loved him.
‘Known for his infectious smile, his running, his football, his love of music and the outdoors and being the best-known postie in all of Folkestone. Such a happy man with enough love to give to everyone around him.
‘Rest in peace, Andy (AG) Gardiner. Forever loved and missed.’
An investigation is ongoing and officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are urging anyone with information to call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538, or email [email protected], quoting reference RY/JG/089/26.
