Two arrested following report of rogue trading in Paddock Wood

Two men have been arrested following a report of rogue trading in Paddock Wood, as officers appeal for further potential victims to come forward.
Kent Police was made aware of alleged fraudulent activity at an address in Willow Lane where two men carried out a series of work at the elderly victim's home throughout July and August 2026.
It is reported that they repeatedly asked for more money and suggested additional jobs without properly completing the original work.
Arrested
Officers launched an investigation and on Wednesday 19 August 2026, two men aged 35 and 49 from the local area were arrested on suspicion of fraud, theft and criminal damage.
The 35 year old was further arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs.
They have both been bailed pending further enquiries.
Further allegations of similar suspicious activity have also been brought to the attention of officers in the Staplehurst and Paddock Wood areas.

Kent Police is reminding residents to deter doorstep fraudsters, who often seek to carry out work which is either completely unnecessary or which is substandard, by taking the following action:
- Do not open the door to, nor engage with, cold callers or tradespeople offering work on your home or garden. If you have any concerns call the police.
- Genuine companies will not expect cash in advance or tell you to go to the bank to withdraw money.
- Use reputable traders who are members of the KCC Trading Standards approved trader scheme Trading Standards Checked.
- Ask for quotes in writing and check that the tradesperson is from the company they say they are from.
- Ring at least three traders to get a feel for an average price for the job.
- Reputable traders will not use pressure techniques for you to agree to the job on the spot.
