Swift-acting officers arrested two suspects within 30 minutes of being called to a golf club in Chestfield.
Kent Police was called at 1.16pm on Friday 15 May 2026 to a report of a man behaving suspiciously at a car park in Chestfield Road, near Whitstable.
It is alleged the suspect was looking into the windows of parked vehicles before leaving the scene in a red saloon car.
Officers attended and carried out a search of the area.
By 1.41pm, a 44 year old man and a 48 year old woman, both from Essex, were arrested on suspicion of theft at another golf centre in nearby Collingwood Road.
Subsequent searches led to the recovery of suspected stolen golf clubs, vehicle registration plates and a ‘disguise’ kit containing clothes, a wig, and a pair of sunglasses.
A suspected stolen car was also seized.
The man and woman have since been bailed, pending further enquiries.
Anyone with information is urged to call the east Kent appeals line on 01843 222289, quoting reference 15-0743.
Local residents with private CCTV or drivers with dashcam, who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, are also asked to check for footage.
