Two charged following distraction burglary investigation

An investigation into a distraction burglary in Chatham has led to two people being charged.

It was reported that at around 7.30pm on Thursday 3 September the suspect entered the victim's property asking for water for her dog.

Whilst inside the property, the suspect is reported to have taken the victim's handbag before quickly leaving.

Two people were later arrested on Monday 14 September.

Charges

Teresa Gaskin, 54, of Fisher Street, Maidstone, and Thomas Hutchinson, 49, of Roosevelt Avenue, Chatham, were subsequently charged with two counts of burglary with intent to steal.

They appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court on 15 September and were remanded in custody.

They are next due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on 12 October.
