Patrols have returned power tools to a victim shortly after they were reported stolen from a van in Faversham.
The property went missing from the rear of the vehicle whilst it was parked in Arden Road, at around 4pm on Wednesday 29 January 2025.
Around 90 minutes later, officers from Kent Police’s Rural Task Force were working in the town with local constables, and attended a report of a person acting suspiciously in Crescent Road.
A man was arrested and taken into custody. It is alleged an officer was assaulted whilst the suspect was being detained.
The constables also recovered a tool box and a quantity of power tools from inside a wheelie bin.
Lee Kennelly, of Glencoe Road, Chatham, was later charged with two counts of theft and assaulting an emergency worker. The 41 year old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 31 January.
The seized items were later returned to the victim who confirmed they were his property.
Several power tools have not been recovered and investigators are appealing to anybody in the Faversham area, who is offered any for sale at a cheap price, to contact the appeal line.
