Violent abuser from London jailed

A violent abuser who subjected his victim to a sustained campaign of controlling and coercive behaviour has been jailed.

Abdul Qudus Odushoga spent months abusing the woman at her home in Faversham.

At first, he began demanding money from her and when she refused, he would just take it from her purse. He would also demand that she bought him expensive clothes and pay for taxis and food. It got to the point where she had to turn to friends and family for money to live.

Odushoga was also repeatedly violent towards her. On one occasion, he pushed her through a wardrobe into a wall and on another occasion he slapped and bit her leaving visible marks.

Another incident occurred when he threw a shopping trolley at her which narrowly missed but as she tried to escape he grabbed her by the neck, dragging her back into the house, holding so tightly it caused her to choke. At times, he would apologise and beg her to stay and other times he would blame her for his behaviour and accused her of embarrassing him.

Final straw

The final straw came when the victim called police after another violent assault.

When he realised she had called for help he again attacked her, attempting to strangle her and repeatedly hitting her head into a metal cabinet and the floor. He fled the property before officers arrived.

Later that afternoon Odushoga was arrested and taken into custody.

The 23 year old was subsequently charged with two assaults, intentional strangulation and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Jail

After pleading guilty at an earlier hearing, Odushoga, from Hardel Walk, London was jailed for 3 years at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday 18 August 2026.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Ellen Compton said: ‘For months, Odushoga subjected the victim to a relentless pattern of abuse which left her living in fear. No one should have to endure the violence, intimidation and control that she experienced. 'The courage she has shown in coming forward and supporting this investigation has helped ensure a dangerous offender has been held accountable and is no longer able to cause her further harm.’
