Witness appeal following handbag snatch in Gravesend

Witnesses are being sought following a robbery in Gravesend town centre where a handbag was stolen.
Kent Police was called at around 6pm on Wednesday 12 February 2020 to reports a handbag had been grabbed from a woman inside a vehicle in Wrotham Road.
The victim got into her car which was parked in the corner of a car park where Zion Place joins Wrotham Road. As she placed her bags on the front passenger seat, a man opened the passenger door, reached in and snatched her handbag from her hands.
The man made off towards Gravesend High Street, falling over a pole before turning right into Woodville Place.
The suspect is described as being white, approximately 5ft, 9ins tall, of slim build and wearing dark jeans and a black or navy blue jumper with the hood up.
Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Marc Makin of North Kent CID said: ‘We are particularly interested in locating a male who saw the incident and tried to chase the suspect.
‘We would also like to hear from any other witnesses who were in the area at that time and who may have seen something.’
