Tunbridge Wells businesses targeted by opportunist thief

Businesses in Tunbridge Wells are warned to be on alert after an opportunist thief distracted staff to steal cash and a mobile phone.
Officers have issued CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the offences, which took place on Tuesday 23 June 2020.
At around 3.45pm a man entered Sankey’s in Mount Ephraim.
The suspect is reported to have engaged staff by asking about when the pub would reopen, before requesting a piece of paper to write the details down. When he left it was discovered a phone had been stolen.
Around 30 minutes later, the suspect is believed to have entered a shop in London Road, Southborough.
During this incident it is alleged he distracted a worker by asking for a postcode to an address. A quantity of cash was later found to have been taken.
