Knives seized and two men arrested in Maidstone

Detectives investigating county lines drugs supply into Maidstone have seized kitchen knives from two suspects stopped in the town centre.
Plain clothes officers from the County Line and Gangs Team detained the men as they entered the Broadway Shopping Centre on Tuesday 23 June 2020.
They were searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act, leading to the recovery of two knives and a number of mobile phones.
Capri Conteh, aged 19, of Salem Street, Maidstone and Achmed Conteh, aged 22, of the same address were later both charged with possessing a knife in a public place, conspiring to supply crack cocaine and with supplying heroin.
The suspects appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court on 24 June, where they were remanded in custody. Their next hearing will be at Maidstone Crown Court on 22 July.
The County Line and Gangs Team is a dedicated team of Kent Police detectives and uniformed officers. It is aimed at proactively tackling drug supply and associated offences, throughout the force.
