Gillingham incident leads to seven charges authorised against man

Seven charges have been authorised against a man following an incident in Medway.
John Convey, 51, of no fixed address appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 4 January 2021 after being charged with racially aggravated assault by beating.
Mr Convey was also charged with possession of a knife in a public place, criminal damage, common assault and two counts of assault by beating.
The offences related to an incident at a property in Gillingham between 1 and 2 January 2021.
Mr Convey was further charged with a third count of assault by beating which related to an incident in November 2020.
He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 4 January 2021 and was released to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on 1 February 2021.
